The movie revolves around a single mother, Apsara (Nayanthara), who works as an assistant director in a low-budget film. She is struggling to make ends meet and take care of her daughter, who suffers from a heart condition. One day, she comes across a book titled "Maya", which is based on the life of a famous actress who died mysteriously. The book claims that anyone who reads it will be haunted by the ghost of Maya. Apsara decides to read the book, hoping to get some inspiration for her film. However, she soon realizes that the book is not just a fiction, but a curse that unleashes a series of terrifying events in her life.

The movie also follows the parallel story of Vasanth (Aari Arujunan), a painter who is obsessed with Maya. He believes that he is the reincarnation of Maya's lover, who was killed by her jealous husband. He tries to find out the truth behind Maya's death and reunite with her spirit. He also gets involved with Swathi (Amzath Khan), a journalist who is investigating Maya's case.
